Don’t miss must-see sights such as the cathedral and parliament buildings, the Place du Vieux-Marché, the Abbey of Saint-Ouen and the many churches. The department of Seine-Maritime is home to many traces of the Middle Ages. Head further afield to conquer medieval vestiges such as the Château du Champ-de-Bataille, the Château de Vascœuil and the Château de Robert le Diable in Moulineaux.

Normandy also offers a thousand and one other activities to do together. There are so many delicious things to eat here — how are you meant to resist? Normandy has one of the best collections of gastronomic specialties of any region in France. Enjoy a tasty all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at your hotel, then head off on your culinary conquest. Are you a bit of a sugar fiend? Then check out Rouen’s Cadran du Gros-Horloge, Pavés du Vieux-Marché and Larmes de Jeanne d'Arc. Normandy is known for its excellent apples, and has plenty of ways to use them up: juice, cider, pommeau, calvados, apple tarts and more... Your weekend in Rouen will undeniably bear all the hallmarks of a fantastic gourmet getaway.

Rouen’s must-sees
Rouen is indisputably a cultural hotbed, and hosts all sorts of events throughout the year. To kick things off there’s the Regards sur le Cinéma du Monde festival, celebrating films from all over the world. In the summer, the Normandie Impressionist Festival is a chance to experience impressionism in its various forms. Last but not least, it’s impossible not to mention one of the region’s most popular events: the Rouen Armada. This immense gathering of sailing boats and warships takes place around every five years, not far from our hotels.

Did you know?
Rouen has been awarded a ‘City of Art and History’ label for its work to preserve its heritage. With well-maintained monuments and cultural events aplenty, you’re in for a thrilling stay. You may not know this, but the city was awarded a Legion of Honor Croix de Chevalier on February 28, 1949, as well as a Croix de Guerre avec Palme. During the Second World War, Rouen was occupied by the Nazis for four years, and its people subjected to torture, execution, bombing and more. This medal honors those inhabitants’ bravery.
